Mise en scene
During the music video performed by Beyonce, a variety of camera shots are used to allow the audience to view the artists in different angles and positions allowing the audience to see her gesture and costume which then allows the viewers to have an over all opinion on the artist personally. Close ups and medium shots are used to create a connection between the artist and the audiences this allows the viewers to enjoy and relate to the music and the video.
Two shots are also used within the music video to show the audience the connection and emotion between the artist and the male model. The emotions and relationship are also shown and created by the body language between the two, for example when Beyonce and the male model are together the isolated and distant body language between the two shows the tension and sets the diegsis.
When Beyonce is performing in the music video, she continuously looks at camera showing emotion and connection between her and audience, as she looks at the camera it also shows confidence and professionalism, it also creates a feel as if she is directly speaking to the audience creating a connection. Beyonce takes up most of camera time and dominates the frame this shows her importance within the video, showing the audience that she is the dominant one within the video and she is the one they audience are watching and listening to. At the beginning of the video the artists body language and position links to the stereotypical idea of women which then carries on throughout the whole music video.

The music video challenges dominant ideology, as it portrays that women are in control and having the power this is highlighted by the body language shown by Beyonce. The close up of a nail file that she uses within the video whilst she is arguing with the male character, highlights her authority, personality and opinion on the matter as if she doesn’t care, showing she’s strong and in control. The iconography of a nail file can also be used to connote femininity . This is also shown as she uses seduction to take off his jacket and chain portraying that she brought them and therefore from the lyrics "if i brought it please dont touch" shes gaining power by demanding for the items she brought back as she has that authority to have him or leave him as he seems keen to the mood change showing that it’s not his decision.

Different outfits and hair styles are used continously throughout the video this shows that the artist is widening her traget audience to suit different people who have different styles and personalities. The outfits compliment her figure and beauty which shows her dominance through out the music video.
In a scene within the video Beyonce is wearing less clothes when she is in her dressing room, her outift consists of a bra and a high waisted skirt. By showing more skin its shows a sexy appeal for the opposite sex who would also be included in the target audiece as it symbolises seduction, which connotes power and authority, this could also help her engage with female audiences as it suggests that females can use sduction to get what they want, as it highlights the typical convention of women.

Editing
Lip sinking is perfect this creates realism as its as if she is singing the words live and saying them whilst the narrative continues, by the actions and diegsis corresponding to the song the body language and the way the artist is acting compliements eachother creating a sense of realism as the video flows.
The attitude and situation matches the song and creates a diegesis that goes well with what is on screen and the song you can hear helping the viewers understand and connect with the music video.

Lighting
Natural lighting is used within the music video this creates realism, the key lighting helps enfluctuate the artists features, by highlighting her face this also shows importance as it helps her stand out suggesting to the audience that she is the main person within the music video.
