Audience feedback

In order for us to gain essential audience feedback, we presented our music video to a variety of people, they then answered "what did you think of the production" on a sheet of paper where the audience were able to give personal positive and negative views of the music video. From the results we were extremely thankful for all given points as it allowed us to see any improvement for our production.

After showing our music video to our audience, we asked them for feedback on what worked well in the video and if anything could be improved.

POSITIVE
"Fluent narrative, worked well with the lyrics and was a clear image of a relationship"
"ancillary texts linked well throughout, you could cleary see it was all linked to the same artist...very professional"

"very well conformed to conventions of the RnB genre presented by other music videos"

"Great narrative and use of editing to create flashbacks"

"very realistic and relatable narrative, love the challanging of genders"

NEGATIVE

"would have been more cohessive if same font for 'Cincere's name' wasused for the song title on the ancillary texts"

" could present more of a pop genre"

"would like to see a little more of the artist singing on his own"

Planning Stage 2

As a group we came up with final ideas for what to include in our R&B music video. We created a multi media presentation in order to present our ideas to the class. Such elements we included were:
  • Costume
  • Props
  • Locations
  • Camera shots and angles
  • Our target demographic
  • Narrative aspects
  • Theory to use
In order to help us complete our music video, the contents of the power point will guide us through creating our music video by allowing us to add in micro elements that will help our music video appeal to the target audience and portray the genre.
We also created questionnaires that allowed us to research the R&B genre which gave us a structure for a R&B video and what elements we were to include the representations in our genre we chose.

Story Board

In order to create our music video to our best abilities enabling the narrative to be portrayed most effectively and professionally, we created a story board enabling all the elements of the R&B genre so that it caters to all the expectations of the target demographic and our ideas to be included in our music video.

Story Board which we used for our final production:

Planning Stage

This is our evaluation of Cincere's Music video. With in the evaluation we included many points such as:

  1. whether to challenge or conform to the codes and conventions of our chosen genre
  2. Whether to include elements that would typically be included in an R&B genre music video
  3. Do our ancillary texts present a continuously linked promottional pack (Digi-pack)
  4. Our audience feed back comment
By creating an evaluation of our music video it allowed us to bring together all our final decisions in order for them to make a clear conclusion.

Digi-Pack

We created a Digi-pack to promote our artist the following is included in the Digi-Pack
1.CD cover
2.Front cover
3.Inlay
4.Back inlay
5.Back cover

1. C.D cover

2. Front cover

1. This is the front cover of our album which we created to promote the artist to the demographic. We took many photographs of the artist in different pos
itions and in different locations so we could decide on the final piece to use for our albulm cover. We edited many images to see which one portrayed the artist and the genre best to its audience and finally we agreed that this image shows both the artists emotions through the name of the song. "Find my way home", we thought it symbolised the artists emotions allowing the audience to relate to the artist.
The font colour and font type we chose for the name of the album we wanted it to be bold and eye catching to enable the target audience to be drawn into the album. We used the colour white for the font in order to help it stand out amongst the bac
kground as the colour consisting throughout the background are dark colours, therefore by using a brighter coloured it allowed the effect of standing out. The font type we used we ensured not only that it was striking and eye catching but also connotes the artist as an individual allowing the audience to relate and feel connected to the artist. We used two different font types so both font types could connote different meanings enabling it to appeal to both genders of the audience, for example the main font type is masculine and striking, where the sub title font type if more feminine and relaxed.
To create the final image we edited the photograph in ph
oto shop this enabled us to play around with the brightness and contrast to create the effect of portraying the artist as we wanted for the target audience. We also used photo shop to dissolve any objects within the background which we thought took the focus off the artist such as a fence running through the background which we dissolved and added a mist affect to create loneliness as the name of the song was called 'Find my way home'.

3. Inlay
The inlay image we used we wanted the audience to see a close up of the artist enabling them to be able to connect to the artist through the close up. We used photo shop again to dissolve unwanted objects and add the misty effect to enable the four images to relate to each other, this is why we used the same location, same costume and same lighting consistently throughout the Digi-Pack.

4. Back Inlay
To stay with the theme that we consistantly used throught out the digi-pack, we used the same location a forrestation to portray the dominance that the artist has. We also kept the same costume and once again used Photo shop to edit the contrast of the image. As our filming and shooting schedule was aimed at late afternoon time to get a great effect, it became dark early therefore we had to brighten the background colour to enable that the artist stood at in his dark coloured costumes and so it was obvious that it was the same location.
We used the same font as the subtitle on the front cover to also link the Digi-back and make a continous link between the front cover, the fron inlay, the back inlay and the back.

5.Back Cover
For the back cover of the album we continued with the location and the theme of the album which allowed the artist to stand out amongst the back ground colours and location. As the position of the artist on the front cover was aimed to see the artists face in order for the artist to connect with the audience. Therefore for the back cover we decided to frame the artist in an opposite position with the artist standing with his back facing out wards, this enabled different angles of the artist to be framed which helped present him to the audience in different views. Again we used Photoshop in order to gain the effects that we used consistently throughout the other images.
In order to make the album look professional and create realism we added such items such as a bar code, a Def Jam logo which we chose as our record label and the names of the songs included within the album.
We also used the same relaxed font type as we did throughout the Digi-Pack to create a consistent link between the album.

Final poster

This is our final poster which we created to promote our artist 'Cincere'.
We also used the same location, similar camera shots and angles, similar body language and positions and same costumes which we used throughout the album the purpose of this was to create a consistence link throughout the entire Digi-pack this always the audience to recognise the artist through the continuous theme.
Such body language and positions our artist performed included having the artist lean against a tree in a field where we also filmed parts of the narrative. We felt that the location allowed the artist to stand out in order to promote him to the target demographic. The position we thought most represented the artist allowing the audience to connect with the audience and be able to see his emotions. We thought the poses revealed a professional and personal yet cool approach to the artist. We thought that it connoted a sense of mystery, confidence, fun and style that represents our artist.
For our tour poster, music video and album we wanted the theme to be continuous in order to create a recognisable identity for our artist.
We also kept a continuous font style throughout our Digi-pack in order to create a professional approach.

For our final poster we used such digital software such as photo shop which allowed us to dissolve any unwanted object, for example we cut out a fence that ran through the back of our final image that we used for our final poster, as we thought it took focus from the artist, who the purpose of the poster was to present and portray the artist. Instead we added mist through the back of the image to create mystery.
For the font throughout the poster which included the tour dates, we used the same coherent font style which we used throughout the rest of the Digi-pack. We chose to have the font in a white colour to help it stand out amongst the dark back ground and connote masculinity.

As a group we felt our final poster connoted appropriate elements in order of presenting our chosen artist.

Planning stage- drafts

These are the drafts for our Digi-pack, where we were able to try out all our ideas to see which worked best in promoting our music video and the artist. From creating many ideas from font types to images of our chosen male artist we were able to see what ideas worked for our final Digi-pack and what ideas didn't work to help us create the perfect Digi-pack.
